We're looking for 3 types of volunteers (in order of increasing commitment):
- Tell us about your experiences with (un)reliable email. Please post these in the "emailreliability" Yahoo discussion group or email private comments to reliable@ee.unsw.edu.au
- Receive several emails as part of our experiment to measure the reliability of mail systems across the Internet. Registrations for this experiment are now closed.
In the two weeks after you volunteer to participate, you will
(hopefully) receive one message per day from us which we ask you to reply to, to
help us measure email loss rates.
Full details about what to expect are available here,
and details about our results so far and experimental plan will be made available to you after the experiment (to avoid some possible biases).
- Send/receive periodic probe messages: Our measurements involve sending a probe message every hour or so to mail accounts and then downloading the messages from those accounts to measure performance (loss, delay, etc). If you have a free email account with an ISP or other service provider that we can use, or are willing to run our software on a server to send such probe emails, then please tell us by email to reliable@ee.unsw.edu.au
We value the time of our volunteers, so we will not redistribute any email addresses that we receive from you. Volunteers will also not be identified by name or organisation in any material that we publish about our experiment without giving their consent.
